We’ve lived in our place for over a year, and I finally have the time to share pictures of our home. For those who don’t know, we moved to Luxembourg when the pandemic hit, and after a lengthy search, we were happy to call this place home. This blog is part of a series of my Luxembourg apartment tour posts. I am planning to share pictures of the different spaces in our home, but first, here’s a look at our bedroom.
Our actual bedroom measures approximately 12 m² and I was therefore really strategic about how I furnished the space. I had to give up the idea of having a wardrobe in the bedroom – I ended up turning our laundry room into a walking-in closet and have been really happy with it.
Bedroom Design Style
If there was one thing I knew before we moved into this apartment, is that I was going to give it a vacation vibe. I opted for a natural palette and natural, seaside-inspired elements, such as linen bedding, warm wood furniture, and woven accents.
I love the minimalistic look of our bedroom. Everything came together just the way I wanted it to. Also, I think I did a good job splurging on some items while mixing in budget-friendly pieces.
Another thing: we get a lot of natural light, which is great! It definitely helps open up the small space.

The Furniture
Finding furniture in Luxembourg that reflects our taste was not easy, so I had to work a little harder to achieve this look.
The starting point was selecting the large furniture. We already had the rug, which was actually the only piece we brought with us from our previous home in Malta. I chose a bed without a headboard to achieve a minimalistic look and also to free up space.
The mirror is an upcycled Ikea Mongstard that I got at half price on Facebook marketplace. I wanted a large full-length mirror for our bedroom. Some looked cheap, some were ridiculously expensive, but none of them were exactly what I was picturing. After researching all my options, I decided to buy a Mongstard mirror and give it a makeover.
I also bought a pair of matching Ikea Hemnes white side tables on Facebook marketplace. There was nothing wrong with them, they were just too plain and modern for my taste, so I decided to give them a new finish and cut them down to size. I think they look pretty good, I love their imperfect look.
I always wanted to have a macramé hanging chair, but since we are renting this apartment, we did not want to drill a hole in the ceiling. I was beyond happy to find this chair. Backstory on this chair, I bought it when we went to France to spend a few days with my in-laws in their summerhouse, but I think you can get it from Centrakor in Thionville.
Personal Touches & Decor
After I selected the large pieces of furniture, I slowly worked on the finishing touches. I wanted to add a serene and calming color. I was on the hunt for the dusty green color. I got this wonderful linen bedding from an online homeware and home decor store. This green shade is perfect. Well worth the splurge to get the shade of green I had in mind. I also added some plants, dried eucalyptus, and small touches of black throughout the room to tie everything together. Also some cream/ white and blue touches. The other items were purchased either from Action Luxembourg or while we were on a trip to France.
